The IT Systems Administrator/Site Technician is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of IT systems and infrastructure within a corporate environment. This hybrid role ensures systems operate efficiently, supports end-users, manages site-level hardware and network equipment, and coordinates with centralized IT teams for broader initiatives. The position demands strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to systems management, and the ability to support local and remote users in a fast-paced environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server systems, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and file/print services.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights across various platforms (Windows, Azure AD, M365).
  • Monitor and maintain system health, performance, security patches, and backups.
  • Function as the primary on-site IT contact for troubleshooting and support of hardware, software, network, and peripheral equipment.
  • Perform setup, installation, relocation, and configuration of PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and AV equipment.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for escalated service desk tickets at the site level.
  • Employee on-boarding and off-boarding process and tracking.
  • Assist with local network troubleshooting, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, and firewall support.
  • Coordinate with network engineering teams for major changes or escalations.
  • Maintain patch panels, cabling, and rack equipment at the site and at colo.
  • Track and manage site hardware and software inventory.
  • Support the lifecycle management of IT equipment (procurement, deployment, upgrades, disposal).
  • Assist in the implementation of IT projects such as system migrations, infrastructure upgrades, office moves, or new site buildouts.
  • Collaborate with corporate IT teams to standardize site deployments and maintain consistency across locations.
  • Ensure systems and equipment are configured according to security standards and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC 1/2, ISO 27001).
  • Report and assist in incident management processes for security events.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field (or 3+ years technical experience).
  • 3–5 years of IT support, system administration, or site technician experience.
  • Strong proficiency with:
    • Windows Server and Windows 10/11 operating systems
    • Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
    • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting and repair (PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals).
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment (up to 50 pounds if required).
  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) or Intune.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management tools (ServiceNow, Jira, N-Able,  etc.).
  • Basic scripting skills in PowerShell or Batch.
  • Experience with cloud environments (Azure or AWS).
